Fort Bragg, population 7,000 ish and I love everything about it.
You see, the thing about living in a small town is how close you get to know people. Driving down the road on any given day I will know and wave to at least two different cars. Walk into the local grocery store I will say hi and know at least three or four people. Hear about an engagement of a couple locals and yes indeed, I will no doubt know them.
Ang and Polly live just down the road from my parent’s house. Polly’s daughter is in my youngest daughter’s 5th grade class (who also happen to be working on a mural together!) and Ang, she works with my husband. I have known Ang and her family since I was in Kindergarten (or maybe even earlier as I don’t remember too much before age 5 ;). I went to school with her older sister Shawndra.
I was absolutely thrilled when they asked me to photograph their wedding. Of course I said YES!
Last Sunday we spent a little time getting to know each other better. We traveled just a few miles and a few minutes out of town. ‘The Company Ranch’ is a well known piece of property to all long-time locals of Fort Bragg. It’s an absolutely beautifully, rustic, light-filled piece of land just inches from the river and the Skunk Train train tracks.
These two are so completely comfortable around me, in front of my camera, I have no doubt their wedding day will be just as comfortable. An ease I am looking very much forward to!
