At the end of 2010 wedding season, a whole bunch of vendors from the north coast went out to dinner. The dinner was photographed and posted on facebook. Everyone looked so happy…a table full of powerful business women. A table I wanted to be at.
So when I set my goals for 2011, this was something I wanted to be a part of. It wasn’t coming from jealousy or prestige. It was coming from an urge of wanting to be a part of something bigger, more than just little me in a town full of people who have been working and knowing each other for years.
And I know, it’s hard to except people to even take me seriously as a ‘professional wedding photographer’ when I’ve been at it for a short three years. But I have the experience and have proven over and over my work speaks for itself…and I was determined to sit at that table with those women by the end of the following year.
And then I got an email. Then a phone call. And then we set a date, with drinks and dinner to follow.
Things just sort of whirled around in my head…I was going to shoot Mendocino Weddings + Events promo pics…
Oh. My. God.
The weather wasn’t the nicest we’ve had in the past few weeks, but I can’t complain. The fog was lovely and the wind was absent. These girls were amazing. I had a wonderful time.
I can’t thank Sonya and the rest of her team enough for the kindness they showed me throughout the shoot, and afterwards at dinner.
Thank you again, ladies.
